Ty J. Young: Complaints Over Massive Target Data Breach

Target shoppers who hit the store at the peak of this year’s holiday shopping season woke up to some unwelcome news Thursday morning from the retail giant: their credit card information may have been compromised.

Target confirmed nearly 40 million credit and debit card accounts may have been impacted by a massive data breach at its U.S. stores between Nov. 27 and Dec. 15.

Customers who made purchases with credit and debit cards at any of its 1,797 stores may have been exposed during this 19-day time period. The data stolen includes customer names, credit and debit card numbers, card expiration dates and security codes on the back of these cards, according to Target. Online shoppers’ information was not compromised.
